I keep finding more to tweak on my new website (www.therealestreya.com). It's a bit like how I cook -- I just keep adding a little here and a little there until I come up with something I haven't a hope of replicating!

My latest sewing project was to make chair pockets for an elementary school classroom. They turned out so cute! I basically ended up with a long strip of fabric folded into an "S". The sides are then serged and it turns out to be a pocket that slides over the back of a chair. We embellished them with an additional pocket on the pocket in a patterned material. SO cute and so useful! The kids can now clear off their tables and yet still have everything they need nearby. I'm not much of a seamstress but serging, I can do! And it's so much fun to make a project that's really going to get used and enjoyed.

I guess that's why I like knitting so much. The wrist warmers, headbands, and scarves I make are so loved, so appreciated that I can't help but feel happy when I think about it!

Look for the Heart! My newly redesigned website (www.therealestreya.com) has my favorite heart design as its favicon! Yes, that little tiny picture to the left of the web address has a name -- it's a favicon.

Why a heart for a hand-made crafts store? To me it represents the passion with which I craft. No matter what my project -- wrist warmers, knit headbands, stitch marker jewelry, or silk scarves -- it's done with joy and love and a certain passion for excellence that drives me. I absolutely love sending my work out into the world and I want each piece to be a unique piece of art that reflects that passion. And thus the Heart. Feel it in every piece I make -- it's certainly there!
